We're Home

Just a super-quick post to let you know that Mike and I arrived home safely very early this morning from our trip to Kansas. It was a good trip overall, a good time to say goodbye to Meemaw and to spend with family.

Some quick snapshots:
One of my most poignant memories of the trip is of my nephew, Orilus, being so sensitive to all of us aunts and his mom during the funeral on Saturday and asking how we were feeling. He escorted me in and out of the church for the service and gave everyone plenty of hugs and smiles.

On the way to dinner on Friday night, my dad was saying how he thought the eulogy he wrote was too long, and Orilus looked at him (like a wise little owl, as my dad recalls) and said "Grandpa, that is not right, you should talk for as long as you want to! It's your mom, and it's your day to remember her and you should say whatever ou want to say. No one will care how long it goes. You should talk for two days if you feel like it!" or something to that effect. What wisdom from such a little one!

Nephew Jackson at the dinner table later told Grandpa he thinks "Meemaw is turning cartwheels in heaven right now", which is probably true, knowing Meemaw!

It would have been a very different trip without the sweetness and openness of these little boys, I was reminded how grateful I am that they are a part of our family!

I'll write more later this week.
